Step Right Privacy Policy

This policy covers Step Right, the iPhone step-tracking app published by Yellow Sun Systems LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). Step Right handles health and location data, which is sensitive, and it handles it in a materially different way from our account-based services: everything stays on your iPhone. 1. Summary

• No account, no sign-in, no email address, no name.
• Step Right makes no network requests. It has no server, no API, and no back end. Your data physically cannot reach us.
• It reads activity data from Apple Health and never writes to Apple Health.
• Recorded walks, including their GPS routes, are stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone.
• No analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs of any kind.
• We never sell, rent, or share your data — we never receive it in the first place.

2. Apple Health data

With your permission, Step Right reads the following types from Apple Health so it can show your daily total, streaks, milestones, trends, and elevation for auto-captured walks:

• Step count
• Walking + running distance
• Active energy burned
• Flights climbed
• Sleep analysis
• Workouts (used to auto-capture walks you recorded elsewhere)

Read-only. Step Right does not write, modify, or delete anything in Apple Health. iOS requires an app to declare a "write" usage string whenever the HealthKit entitlement is present, so you may see one in the permission sheet; Step Right does not use it.

Background delivery. Step Right asks iOS to notify it when new step samples arrive, so today's total is current when you open the app. This happens entirely on your device.

Your control. You grant Health access per data type, and you can review or revoke it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Step Right, or in the Health app under Sharing. Revoking access does not delete walks you already recorded in Step Right; delete those inside the app (Section 5).

In accordance with Apple's requirements, Step Right does not use Health data for advertising or marketing, does not disclose it to third parties, and does not use it for any purpose other than showing you your own activity inside the app.

3. Location data

When you record a walk, Step Right uses your location to draw the route on a map and to measure distance and elevation change. Specifics:

• Permission is "While Using the App" and is requested the first time you record a walk — not at launch.
• Step Right enables the iOS background location mode so a recording keeps tracking when your screen locks or you switch apps mid-walk. iOS shows the location indicator while this is happening.
• Location is sampled only during an active recording. Step Right does not track you in the background at other times.
• The resulting route — a series of latitude/longitude points with timestamps — is saved with the walk in the app's private on-device storage. It is not uploaded, not written to Apple Health, and not shared.

You can revoke or downgrade location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Step Right. Without it, step tracking and goals still work; route maps do not.

4. Motion and fitness data

Step Right uses the iPhone's motion coprocessor (pedometer, altimeter, and motion activity) so today's step count updates live as you walk, rather than waiting for Apple Health to batch-write pedometer samples. This data is read from the device sensors and used immediately for display; it is not transmitted anywhere. You can revoke it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.

5. What is stored on your iPhone

Step Right stores two things, both locally:

• Your walks — start and end time, steps, distance, ascent and descent, and the GPS route points. Stored in the app's own private database.
• Your preferences — daily step goal, whether to auto-capture walks from Health, whether to show auto-captured walks, and whether the app has already asked you for an App Store review.

There is no iCloud sync and no CloudKit: your walks do not travel between your devices, and we cannot see them. Note that because this data lives in the app's normal container, it may be included in your encrypted iPhone or iCloud device backup — that backup is Apple's, under your Apple Account, and is not accessible to us.

Deleting data. You can delete any individual walk from inside the app. Deleting Step Right from your iPhone removes all of its stored walks and preferences. Because nothing was ever uploaded, no further deletion request to us is necessary or possible.

6. No network, no third parties

• No network requests. Step Right contains no networking code. It does not call any server — ours or anyone else's. The only exception is a link you tap deliberately, such as the link to this policy, which opens in your browser rather than sending anything from the app.
• No analytics. No Firebase Analytics, no Google Analytics, no Segment, no Mixpanel, no first-party telemetry.
• No advertising. No ad networks, no ad SDKs, no advertising identifier (IDFA), no ad tracking. Step Right is free and has no ads.
• No crash or error reporting. No Crashlytics, no Sentry, no third-party diagnostics SDK.
• No third-party SDKs at all. Step Right is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, HealthKit, Core Location, Core Motion, MapKit).
• No data brokers. We do not sell, rent, license, or otherwise disclose your data. There is nothing to disclose.

If you choose to leave an App Store rating or contact support by email, that interaction is with Apple or with our email provider respectively, not with the app; those are covered by their own policies and by our umbrella policy.

7. No export or sharing feature

Step Right has no share sheet, no CSV export, no backup upload, and no social features. There is no way for your walk data to leave the app other than through Apple's own device-backup mechanism described in Section 5.

8. Your rights

California residents (CCPA / CPRA). Yellow Sun Systems LLC does not sell or share personal information for purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Health and precise geolocation data are "sensitive personal information" under the CPRA; Step Right collects them onto your own device only, never transmits them to us, and never uses them to infer characteristics about you. Because we never receive them, the rights to know, access, port, correct, delete, and limit the use of sensitive personal information are exercised through the on-device controls described in Sections 2, 3, and 5. EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR). Health data is a special category of personal data under GDPR Art. 9. Because Step Right does not transmit your health, location, or motion data to us — it never leaves your iPhone — we are not a controller for it, and no Art. 9 processing by us takes place. The lawful basis for the app reading it on your device is your explicit, per-type consent granted through the iOS permission prompts, which you may withdraw at any time in iOS Settings. You retain the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection (GDPR Arts. 15–21), and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (GDPR Art. 77); in practice, for Step Right, the effective way to exercise these rights is through the on-device controls in Sections 2, 3, and 5.

9. Children's privacy

Step Right is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children — or, as set out above, from anyone. Access to Apple Health data on a child's device is governed by Apple's own parental controls and Screen Time restrictions.

10. Not medical advice

Step Right is a general fitness and motivation app, not a medical device. Step counts, distances, calorie estimates, elevation, and sleep figures come from your iPhone's sensors and Apple Health and are approximations. Do not rely on them for any medical, diagnostic, or treatment decision. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting or changing an exercise programme.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Step Right Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a future version of Step Right ever transmits anything off your device, that would be a material change: we would say so here plainly and describe exactly what and why, and iOS would require fresh permission from you.
